TikTok star-turned-pop icon Addison Rae has finally dropped her highly anticipated single, "Aquamarine." After months of teasing it across her socials, the track has made its way to streaming platforms. First hinted at in a June snippet, fans have eagerly awaited the release, and Rae does not disappoint. Following her viral hit "Diet Pepsi," this latest track is part of a suspected rollout for her anticipated debut album.
Sonically, "Aquamarine" feels like a diamond-encrusted cigarette on the beach after a few drinks—refreshing and bold. Rae showcases her vocals, leaving listeners wanting more. She uses whispery and airy tones in the verses that smoothly connect to the chorus snippet she shared earlier. While the verses may feel slightly disjointed at times, as the song progresses, her artistic vision becomes clear.
Lyrically, "Aquamarine" centers on being the ultimate prize. Rae compares herself to the pearl inside an oyster, conveying a message of self-worth and desirability. She whispers, "The world is my oyster, baby, come touch the pearl, the world is my oyster, and I’m the only girl." She uses this oyster/pearl metaphor to describe herself. Rae wants the opener of this oyster to know that when it's open, they better take her out and treat her right.
The track features writing credits from frequent collaborators Luka Kloser and ELVIRA with Addison herself on the credits as well. Production was done by ELVIRA and Luka Kloser, who also worked on "Diet Pepsi." This track was released under Columbia Records with an exclusive license from Rae's ARXOXO LLC, "Aquamarine" marks her follow-up to "Diet Pepsi" and the start of the rollout of her debut album expected in 2025.
